ATLANTA-Gentle Spirit Today announced their Lenten and Holy Week Schedule leading to Easter:
Each Wednesday of Lent March 12th through April 16th a Lenten Study called "The Woman at the Well, Breaking down Barriers" will be offered 7:30pm till 9:00pm. The study is open to the public and all are invited.
Holy Week which begins April 14th through Easter Sunday April 20th will have the following worship services:
Thursday April 17th at 7pm. "Maundy Thursday" or "Holy Thursday" service will take place at 7pm with Epworth United Methodist Church. The main point of this service is the remembrance of Christ's last meal with his friends and followers before his arrest. What he taught that night.
Friday April 18th at 10:30am till 12:30pm, we will join with the InTown Community Assistance to walk the "stations of the cross". We will be joining with 14 other churches from the Ponce corridor which includes Druid Hills Baptist, Druid Hills Presbyterian, Druid Hills United Methodist, Epworth United Methodist, St. John's Lutheran, Candler Park Baptist, Virginia Highland Baptist, Church of our Savior Episcopal Church, Inman Park United Methodist, Euclid Avenue Baptist, Atlanta Primitive Baptist, Grace Lutheran Church and Gentle Spirit Christian church of Atlanta. The liturgy will begin at the ICA center on located on Seminole and Ponce and will take the participants from church to church "caring the cross of Jesus". The service will complete it's journey at St. John's Lutheran Church where Rev. Paul M. Turner, secretary to the Board of Directors for ICA, will deliver the Good Friday message.
At 7pm on Good Friday evening we will share in a traditional Good Friday service with Epworth United Methodist church.
On April 20th EASTER SUNDAY, we will host an "Easter Sunrise Service at starting at 7:02am over at Candler Park. This celebration is open to the public and especially the neighbor's of Candler Park. Service will be followed with a breakfast at the Radial restaurant on DeKalb Avenue.
7pm that evening we will enjoy our Easter Celebration. All services unless otherwise noted will be at 1561 McLendon Avenue, which is located in beautiful Candler Park in Atlanta. For more information about any of these services please call the church or e-mail them.
