ATLANTA-Atlanta, Georgia-Gentle Spirit Christian Church of Atlanta which meets at 1561 McLendon Avenue NE (Epworth United Methodist Church) will holds it's annual community wide Easter Sunrise Service at 6:32am just inside Candler Park March 27th. The city park is located across the street from the church.
According to the Senior Pastor, Rev. Paul M. Turner the service will feature a brief Easter Meditation, prayer, praise and song. In what has become a tradition in it's 5th year, The Candler Park neighbors and members of Epworth United Methodist Church have joined together to celebrated the resurrection of the Christ as the day breaks forth. Immediately following the service participants will be invited to join for breakfast at the Radial Restaurant located 2 blocks away on Dekalb Avenue (1530 Dekalb Avenue Atlanta, Georgia 30307). The owner, Phillip Palmer has opened his restaurant early for the last 5 years to welcome the community following the day break worship in the park.
Formed in March of 1998, Gentle Spirit Christian Church of Atlanta, Inc. is a fellowship dedicated to the spreading the gospel of Jesus the Christ to all people in an open, affirming and inclusive manner. Its outreach shall include AIDS programs, ministries for the homeless, affirming ministries to the Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgender and Questioning communities, campus and bar ministries, and participation in those activities which promote social justice and equality for all. Its mission is to bring the message of redemption and grace to those people who have been victims of oppression, rejection and misinformation and to assure them they are true heirs in the realm of God.
